Lacuna – web shop for professional protective equipment and workwear

For Lacuna, a regionally recognized company specializing in personal protective equipment, workwear, and occupational safety, we developed a modern web shop and an extensive digital product catalog.

The goal of the project was to organize a large and technically diverse assortment into a clearly structured platform that enables easy product discovery, quality presentation of their purpose, and an efficient ordering process for business and private users.

The web solution brings together sales, product presentation, educational content, and information on specialized solutions, creating a central digital hub for Lacuna’s offering and expertise.

Large and complex product catalog

Lacuna’s assortment includes more than 10,000 in-stock items intended for various industries, working conditions, and protection levels.

The offering includes work and protective clothing, safety footwear, gloves, head, eye, hearing and respiratory protection, height safety equipment, welding program, disposable protective equipment, as well as first aid and hygiene products.

Additional categories include warehouse and promotional equipment, solutions for medicine, veterinary, cosmetics, the HoReCa sector, and the food industry.

The main challenge was to organize such a large number of products, subcategories, and variants without creating an overly complex user interface. A multi-level catalog structure was developed, allowing users to quickly narrow down from broad product groups to equipment for a specific purpose.

Fast search and user-friendly navigation

Advanced search simultaneously recognizes products, brands, and categories, enabling users to reach the desired item directly by entering the product name or code.

The catalog is organized by type of protection and area of application, while the clear navigation makes it easier to move through a large number of related categories. This allows users to explore the entire assortment or immediately focus on a specific type of protective equipment.

Special attention was paid to the mobile view because products are often browsed outside the office— in warehouses, production facilities, on construction sites, or during conversations with customers.

Responsive design ensures a clear display of navigation, categories, photos, and technical information on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Detailed product presentation

Product pages are designed to provide customers with the information needed to understand the purpose and basic characteristics of the item.

In addition to the name, code, and product photos, it is possible to display a description, available sizes and colors, technical characteristics, and the corresponding category and brand. Linking variants makes it easier to choose the appropriate version of a product without unnecessarily returning to the results list.

A clear presentation is especially important for personal protective equipment because the user does not choose a product based only on appearance and price, but also according to the work environment, purpose, and required level of protection.

B2B web shop available 24/7

An important part of the project is the B2B web shop intended for Lacuna’s business customers and distributors.

Registered users can access the platform and create orders online, without being limited by the working hours of sales staff. End-customer orders can be forwarded to the appropriate Lacuna distributor, whereby the digital channel also supports the existing partner sales network.

B2B functionalities reduce the need for manual order intake by phone or email and provide customers with a simpler and standardized way to order a large number of different items.

Thus, the web shop is not just an additional sales channel, but a digital tool that supports the daily operations of Lacuna, its distributors, and business customers.

More than a classic online store

Lacuna is not presented on the web solely as a supplier of protective equipment. Dedicated sections focus on expert solutions for specific industries, product manufacturing and finishing, height safety equipment, respiratory protection, and automated dispensing of personal protective equipment via PPE vending machines.

The site also offers digital editions of catalogs that allow users to review the entire assortment in a format adapted to sales presentations and business planning.

The Lacuna Training Center further presents trainings and practical workshops intended for occupational safety experts, procurement managers, distributors, and users of personal protective equipment.

By connecting products, expertise, and training in this way, the web solution supports positioning Lacuna as a partner for comprehensive occupational safety solutions.

Multilingual and regionally adaptable platform

The content of the Croatian site is available in Croatian, English, and Slovenian, tailoring the offering to users in different markets.

The platform structure enables consistent presentation of a large catalog in multiple languages, with adaptation of category names, product descriptions, informational content, and sales messages to each market.

This has created a stable foundation for regional operations and further expansion of digital sales.

Easy content management

The content management system allows editors to manage categories, products, brands, promotional content, catalogs, and informational pages.

Given the large number of products and frequent offer changes, it is important that new items, collections, and content can be published quickly and without code changes.

The modular structure enables linking the sales catalog with educational and promotional content and highlighting new products, special collections, and solutions for specific industries.

Digital platform for sales and expert support

Lacuna’s new website brings together an extensive product catalog, B2B ordering, multilingual content, training, and specialized occupational safety solutions.

A clear category structure, effective search, and responsive design make it easier to find the right equipment, while the B2B platform supports the digitalization of ordering and collaboration with distributors.

The result is a scalable web solution that not only showcases products but actively supports Lacuna’s sales, partner network, and position as an occupational safety expert.
