Zagreb Stock Exchange – the digital portal of the Croatian capital market

The Zagreb Stock Exchange holds a special place in the history of the European internet. With the support of CARNET, at the beginning of 1995 it started publishing, via its official website, information about the Exchange, daily trading reports and price movements.

This made it the first exchange in Europe and one of the first exchanges in the world with an official presence on the internet.

Three decades later, Globaldizajn developed a new generation of the Zagreb Stock Exchange web portal, tailored to today’s users, the volume of market data and the complexity of information on the Croatian capital market.

A large volume of data in a clear structure

The Zagreb Stock Exchange website is simultaneously a source of market data, regulatory information, statistics, documents, and information for different user groups.

The portal is used by:

  • individual and institutional investors

  • issuers of securities

  • Exchange members

  • data distributors

  • analysts and the media

  • the professional and general public

The main challenge of the project was to organize the large amount of data and content so that each user can quickly find the information they need.

Market data at the heart of the portal

The homepage gives users an immediate overview of the current state of the market.

Highlighted are:

  • stock index values

  • daily index changes

  • securities with the largest price increases and declines

  • most-traded securities

  • turnover and prices

  • issuer announcements

  • trading notices

  • current news and events

The data are presented through clear tables and information sections that enable a quick insight without having to go through a large number of subpages.

Information on securities and trading

The portal consolidates data and documentation related to the Croatian capital market.

Users have access to:

  • securities prices

  • shares, bonds and ETFs

  • treasury bills and commercial paper

  • structured products

  • stock exchange indices

  • data on OTC transactions

  • market capitalization

  • turnover and statistics

  • reference prices

  • periodic trading reports

  • information on market segments and trading modalities

Complex datasets are organized according to a clear information hierarchy and linked to the relevant documents and additional information.

Content tailored to different users

The portal’s information architecture is divided according to the real needs of users.

Dedicated sections are intended for:

  • trading and Exchange members

  • issuers

  • market data distribution

  • the Exchange’s products and services

  • investors

  • legal regulation

  • corporate information of the Zagreb Stock Exchange

  • the Zagreb Stock Exchange Academy

Such organization allows the expert and regulatory content to remain detailed, while at the same time being easier to find.

Issuer disclosures and financial statements

One of the portal’s important functions is the centralized publication of issuer information.

Users can browse:

  • issuer news

  • financial statements

  • information on dividend payments

  • documentation related to listing

  • information on public offerings

  • issuer obligations

  • data on regulated market segments

Disclosures are linked to the corresponding issuers and document types, which makes it easier to track relevant information.

Integration with exchange data

The web portal is connected to the sources of market and business data of the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

Automatic retrieval and processing enable regular updates of:

  • index values

  • prices and turnover

  • data on securities

  • statistics

  • issuer disclosures

  • reports and other structured data

Special attention is paid to the consistent display of numerical data, dates, currencies, trading statuses, and linking data to the corresponding securities.

High availability and system redundancy

Since the Zagreb Stock Exchange portal is an important source of market and regulatory information, the infrastructure is designed with an emphasis on high availability and system resilience.

The application runs on redundant infrastructure distributed across multiple servers. In the event that an individual server is unavailable, traffic is redirected to the remaining active instances, reducing the risk of downtime due to the failure of a single component.

Such an architecture enables:

  • greater portal availability

  • distribution of user load

  • resilience to the failure of an individual server

  • safer execution of upgrades and maintenance

  • capacity scaling when the number of users and requests increases

Redundancy, monitoring and load balancing form the technical foundation of a reliable portal tailored for the continuous availability of market information.

Multilingualism and international availability

The portal has been developed as a multilingual solution with Croatian and English versions of the content.

Structured market data, information on securities, reports, documents and corporate content are organized to be accessible to domestic and international users through the same information structure.

The content management system enables separate editing of each language version while preserving the links between the corresponding pages and data. The architecture is also prepared for adding new languages should the need arise.

This makes information about the Zagreb Stock Exchange and the Croatian capital market available to investors, issuers, data distributors and other users outside the Croatian-speaking area.

Modern and responsive design

The new design focuses on clarity, readability and quickly finding information.

The visual hierarchy separates market data, expert content, documents and corporate information, while the display is adapted to computers, tablets and mobile devices.

The portal is available in Croatian and English, making key information about the Croatian capital market available to international users as well.

Continuation of a long-standing digital tradition

From the first daily reports published on the internet in 1995 to today’s data-rich web portal, the Zagreb Stock Exchange has continuously evolved the way it makes market information available to the public.

The new website continues that tradition with modern design, a clearer organization of content and advanced integration with market data.

The result is a central digital source of information on the Zagreb Stock Exchange and the Croatian capital market.
