Web Telegram of Croatian Post – digitizing a traditional postal service
For Croatian Post, we redesigned and enhanced the Web Telegram web application, which enables users to compose, personalize, pay for, and send telegrams online.
The project combines a digital user experience with a physical postal service. The user completes the entire process online, while Croatian Post handles the processing and delivery of the telegram to the selected recipient.
The goal of the redesign was to turn the complex process of sending a telegram into a clear sequence divided into understandable steps, reduce the possibility of incorrect data entry, and enable easy use on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
The entire process organized in five steps
The process of sending a telegram is divided into five clearly marked steps:
selecting the type and theme of the telegram
entering the recipient’s details and the message content
selecting the delivery deadline
choosing a gift
order review and payment
The user can see at any time which part of the process they are in and which steps remain. They can easily move forward and back between steps without losing previously entered data.
Such organization is especially important because the order includes different types of data, additional services, and rules that must be met for the telegram to be properly delivered.
Selecting an appropriate telegram
In the first step, the user selects a telegram according to the occasion. Available themes are organized into categories such as birth, birthdays, weddings, happy events, and expressions of sympathy.
Each themed template is presented with a visual preview, a title, and an associated label. This way, before proceeding, the user can see what the background will look like on which their message will be delivered.
In addition to themed telegrams with an image, it is also possible to choose a classic telegram without an image and music. Clearly displayed prices allow the user to understand the basic cost of the selected service already in the first step.
Entering the recipient and message content
After selecting a template, the user enters the recipient’s first and last name, street, house number, city, and postal code. An additional field is available for a more precise address designation, for example, the name of a maternity ward, hospital, barracks, or settlement.
Required fields and input validation help the user enter the complete address needed for proper and timely delivery.
The content of the telegram is limited to a maximum of 100 words. While writing, the application tracks the number of entered words and immediately shows the user how many more they can add.
The total includes elements defined by the rules of the telegram service, including recipient details and selected special services. This reduces the possibility of error before the user reaches the final review.
Invoicing details
For business users and other senders who need an invoice, it is possible to enter details for issuing an R1 invoice.
The form includes the sender’s name and address, city, postal code, and OIB. The system validates the required fields and links the entered data to the telegram order.
In this way, the same application is tailored to both private and business users, without the need for separate sending procedures.
Selecting the date and method of delivery
Web Telegram enables the selection of additional services related to delivery. The user can request delivery on a specific day or choose other options available for the selected type of telegram and destination.
The application guides the user through the available options and displays the information needed to understand the expected delivery time.
In this way, the digital interface respects the business rules of Croatian Post and translates them into simple decisions that the user can make without knowing internal labels and procedures.
A gift with the telegram
It is possible to choose a suitable gift along with the message. The user browses the offer within the same process, selects the desired product, and adds it to the order before the final review.
Croatian Post packages and delivers the gift together with the telegram. This extends the traditional telegram service into a complete congratulatory message, suitable for births, birthdays, weddings, and other important events.
The price of the selected gift and special services is included in the total order amount.
Final review and card payment
Before payment, the user receives an overview of all entered data: the selected template, recipient, message, delivery time, additional services, gift, and total price.
The possibility of a final check is particularly important because an incorrectly entered address or content can affect the processing and delivery of the telegram. If they notice an error, the user can return to the appropriate step and correct the data.
After confirmation, the order is paid by card, and the entered data is forwarded to Croatian Post for further processing.
Connecting the digital and physical process
The project is unique in that the user experience does not end with submitting the online form. The digital order must contain all the data needed for the creation, processing, and physical delivery of the telegram.
The application must therefore apply rules related to the message content, completeness of the address, word count, available special services, delivery times, price calculation, and payment.
With clear steps and validations, the user is guided through this complex process without being exposed to unnecessary technical and operational details.
Globaladmin for content and offer management
The web application is connected to the Globaladmin system, which enables the management of themed templates, motifs, gifts, service information, and other content available to users.
The system allows for updating the offer and timely publication of new information without changing the basic user process.
The responsive interface enables sending telegrams via a mobile device as well, which is particularly useful in situations when the user wants to quickly respond to an important life event.
The result is a modern transactional web application that makes Croatian Post’s traditional service available online, from the first message to payment and physical delivery to the recipient.
