SOLARS – mobile app for monitoring solar energy
SOLARS is a mobile application conceived and developed by Globaldizajn for owners of home ABB solar energy systems.
The app allows users to check at any time how much electricity their solar system is producing, monitor its efficiency, and compare results achieved over different periods.
Instead of complex technical data, SOLARS turns the most important information into simple indicators and visualizations tailored to everyday users.
Solar plant data always available
Owners of solar systems no longer have to wait for billing statements or use complex technical interfaces to check the results of their investment.
After connecting to the solar system, the app retrieves available power plant operating data and displays it on the mobile device. This way, the user can check the current system status and the amount of energy produced whether they are at home or elsewhere.
The most important information is displayed immediately upon opening the app, without the need to navigate through numerous menus and technical settings.
Tracking production over different periods
The amount of solar energy produced varies depending on the time of day, weather conditions, and season. Therefore, a single real-time data point is not enough to understand the plant’s actual performance.
SOLARS enables viewing and comparing production across selected periods, including daily, weekly, and monthly results.
Visualizations allow users to easily spot changes and compare production between different days or longer time frames. In this way, they can better understand how the system operates and track the benefits the solar plant delivers throughout the year.
Simplified view of system efficiency
The app displays indicators related to the operational efficiency of the solar installation. Users can track achieved production and more easily detect deviations compared to previous periods.
The goal is not to burden the user with technical details, but to provide clear answers to the most important questions: is the system operating, how much energy is it producing, and what results is it achieving over time.
This approach turns data from a technical system into clear and useful information intended for the owner of a home solar plant.
Overview of estimated financial savings
The energy produced is also shown in the app through an estimate of financial benefits. Users can track how much money they have saved by using energy from their own solar system compared to typical grid electricity consumption.
The display of cumulative savings further helps users understand the long-term value of investing in a solar plant.
In doing so, the app connects technical data expressed in produced energy with concrete everyday benefits that users can more easily understand.
Environmental contribution of using solar energy
In addition to production and financial indicators, SOLARS also shows an estimate of the environmental benefits achieved by using a renewable energy source.
In this way, users not only monitor the amount of electricity produced, but also gain a clearer insight into the positive impact of their decision to use a solar system.
The combination of energy, financial, and environmental indicators provides a comprehensive overview of the value of a home solar plant.
UX/UI design focused on simplicity
The complete user experience and visual design of the app were developed at Globaldizajn.
Special attention was paid to a clear presentation of numerical data, understandable charts, and simple navigation. Colors, icons, and visual relationships are tailored to the renewable energy theme, while key indicators are designed to be quickly reviewed even on a smaller screen.
The interface is designed for users with varying levels of technical knowledge. No familiarity with technical terms related to solar plants and energy systems is required to use the app.
Developed for iOS and Android devices
SOLARS is available to users of iOS and Android devices, enabling access for a wide range of owners of supported ABB solar systems.
The project included app development, integration with energy system data, testing on mobile devices, preparation of visual materials, and publishing on the App Store and Google Play.
After release, maintenance, optimization, and adaptation of the app to new versions of mobile operating systems continued.
User privacy
During development, attention was paid to secure data access and user privacy. According to information published in the app stores, SOLARS does not collect or share user data with third parties, and data in transit is protected.
This gives users access to information about their own solar system without unnecessary collection of personal data.
SOLARS demonstrates how complex data related to energy systems can be turned into a simple and practical digital product. The result is a mobile app that gives owners of solar plants better insight into the production, efficiency, financial savings, and environmental contribution of their investment.
